Sad Times...

While my husband and I were visiting my son's family in Texas, my Mom who had just entered an assisted living facility a week before we left for Texas suffered a brain aneurysm and passed away. We made it back for the funeral but I never got to speak to her after we left because the phone hadn't been installed in her room. There was no indication that anything was wrong with her other than her back problems. My aunt and cousin were with her the night before it happened and they said she was fine, laughing and having a good time at 9 p.m. The morning shift found her about 8 the next morning unresponsive and she died about 12 hours later.

My mother in law just passed in May so we have had a double blow.

The bus trip to Texas was not as bad as I had feared but we did get stranded for about 12 hours in Atlanta because two buses had broken wheelchair lifts. I also pulled a muscle in my groin and had to go to the hospital in Texas twice. I was in serious pain and couldn't even dress myself or get in or out of bed without help. My son drove us back for the funeral so we still have our return tickets. We may go back with them after we finish clearing out Mom's house which we have to sell. We donated may things to Goodwill but I was so sad seeing her things beeing carried out.

Our granddaughter is a joy, though. It was great to finally hold her.

Vee

A lot of truth in this humor

Landa sent me this ,and I couldn't resist posting:

The economy is so bad--

1. I went to buy a toaster oven and they gave me a bank.
2. I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.
3. CEO's are now playing miniature golf.
4. Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars are now trading higher than GM.
5. Obama met with small businesses - GE, Pfizer, Chrysler, Citigroup and GM, to discuss the Stimulus Package.
6.. McDonalds is selling the 1/4 ouncer.
7. People in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names.
8. The most highly-paid job is now jury duty.
9. People in Africa are donating money to Americans.. Mothers in Ethiopia are telling their kids, "finish your plate; do you know how many kids are starving in the US?"
10. Motel Six won't leave the lights on.
11. The Mafia is laying off judges.
12. If the bank returns your check marked "insufficient funds," you have to call them and ask if they meant you or them.

Need the puter guru.

Tried to play at club, had all kinds of problems. They said they are not having problems with their software.
So I cleaned off all casinos off my puter and tried to redownload Club. Click on club and .
Got a message saying that plibc32.dll is not activated.
HELP anyone.
Can't play the instant either,, says Internet Explorer can't download.
Have money in there and can't play. How frustrating.
Thanks

You turn 50 years old and this is what happens......

My birthday was Sunday and I spent Saturday partying with friends and family...a great time!

Sunday night I go to work and the boss (who was picked over me to be the department manager - I was 2nd choice) informs me of the following. That since our department secretary's job was eliminated, all her duties will be split between the three shift supervisors.

1st shift will order supplies
2nd shift will handle paperwork for employees who don't show up for work
3rd shift (that's ME) will handle etime - all payroll issues, vacation requests, requested days off, perfect attendance days

I don't mind helping out but my question is...what the hell is he doing??? He hasn't worked a full 40 hour week (or even close) since he was put in the job in January. He has a knee-jerk reaction to everything and if often apologizing after the fact for flying off the handle. He has so many person "irons in the fire" that I believe the only priority for this job is that he get the big fat paycheck. He also hired many of his "friends" most of which are worthless, lazy employees.

AND NOW THE ICING ON THE CAKE!

My husband works as a corrections officer for one of our state prisons. Our governor (I didn't vote for the bum!) and lawmakers didn't pass the budget on time and prison employees, state police and other hard-working-middle class, state servants are now working for FREE. It won't take long for us and many other families to spiral into BIG money problems.

But hear is the good news - the INMATES will still get paid!

I'm beyond frustrated, need to take a deep breath and just say screw it --- take it day to day - and hope we get past this soon. But just for this week I'm depressed, scared and really angry!

Thanks for letting me vent...xxx ooo

Laurie

(And to anyone who has the urge to say "You should have tucked something away for situations like this." I'd like to say...how many people do you know that have a "nest egg"? All the working Americans I know are in the same boat - living check-to-check.)

Old Couple Married for 62 years

This is so sweet. The man just turned 90 and has been married to the same woman for 62 years. They walked into the Mayo Clinic and spotted a piano.
Enjoy
