I have been sitting in the GG Live Help Chat room for a while but guess no one is there... I tried to sign my daughter up to GG this morning, however, she uses my computer....I totally forgot about the Shared Computer policy.... She stays with me three nights a week, and I wanted her to have something to do... I guess it was denied because of the shared computer.... She doesn't have her own, that is why she uses mine for everything. Are we ok to do this ? I have been a longtime and loyal visitor of GG. However, lately no matter how hard I try I can't win at nothing....:( But I just want GG to know that I certainly never did this intentionally...Don't know how to resolve it. Thank s SonjaC Plus give me some hints to get back to winning GG's like the old days....I can't win anything....not sure why

| Vista and Windows 7 Users
Hi, I have Vista, and as everybody knows it is not very good, or gets bogged down very fast.
When Microsoft went to their new system==Windows 7, they changed a really good feature they had in place with a much better one.
They got rid of the "Live One Care" for a firewall, and AV, and Tech support tool when windows7 came out.
The New "ALL-in-ONE" tool is called Windows Security Essentials, which is very, very good.
In the list of Top 10 Security software, and all-in-one, microsoft went from being #29 on the list to the #2 spot, because this all-in-one is very good.
I downloaded, installed it, and automatically it scanned, repaired all my bad entries, fixed all the issues I had in vista, and cleaned out/defragged the system.
It runs constantly and keeps the computer at it peak performance.
I have had this going for 2 weeks now and my computer has not slowed down at all since going to this utility.
If you have Vista, or windows 7, go to their website.

Replies: 1 Scratchers2u | Helpful Hint for Vista
Here is a very helpful hint to get your vista running smooth. I do this once a week.
As you vista user know, or should know, is that because of 2 different modes of use, Admin, and User controls, vista does a shadow or copy of everything done while browsing. Like looking in a mirror.
I use the Admin side so I do not get prompted to ok everything I do, so here is a trick I learned, and do it every single week, and have no problems with my vista.
Once a week, I do major cleaning of my system, and it takes me about 5 to 10 minutes to do.
Use these tips.
#1 Run Microsofts Update to be sure you have the latest updates for security and hotfixes.
#2 Run Secunia.com/software inspector, full scan, to be sure you have the current updates for the Java, java plug-ins, java flash. (when you do the scan, if it is out of date, they put links and tell you how to update to the right version)
#3 The next step is to clean up your files and system. Click on these: Start Help and Support Performance and Maitenance Performance Tools Run Disk Cleanup Open this Tool Click on All Users on the system. Then follow the prompts until it cleans out the temp files, plugins, etc.
This has cleaned everything stored that slows down the vista.
Next, we clean the mirror side or as they say. Click on Start - run curser over the right arrow and a menu opens, and click on Switch User. Then click on the other side. (note: as I use Admin for my primary, I would select User to open.
When the desktop page opens, follow the instructions as I wrote above in #3, but when prompted what files, click on "My files Only" It makes no difference but I use this one.
When it is done, close out, then Restart your computer.
It will prompt you saying that there are others logged on, do you wish to continue, just click ok and do the restart.
You will see a little difference and will notice pages load better.
Usually, after my restart, i go back to help and support, then run Defrag, and let it go in the background.
Your computer w/vista will run smoother.

Replies: 10 Scratchers2u | Post #1 = Helpful Tech Sites
Here are 2 of my top sites I go to to test my system, and keep it running smooth. My system isan AMD64, Dual Core processor, with the OEM (factory installed) Vista Home edition. I have had it for a year and a half and have had ZERO crashes, and it loads faster than my old windowsME system. I will post other posts for "tweaking" your system to make it run good all the time. These sites are FREE............FREE..........and very good....
My 1st site I use every 3 days, (just to keep my system up to date) is.
http://secunia.com/software_inspector/ on the page, click start test, then it goes to the next page. There, you check the box for a FULL Scan, then Start.
It will run a complete test of your system, and if any faults are found, it will list them, and tell you with links on how and where to get it corrected.
Secunia is a Great site to get the correct version of JAVA, and all the other players, etc to run correctly.
Site#2 www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/index.html
On this page, find the one for your system, and download it, then defrag your system.
This defrag does a really great defrag, and it looks at every file, moves them. It gave my system a 10% increase in loading and web=surfing after using it. Now I use it weekly...
Site#3.
www.speedtest.net/
This is a "global" speed test that gives you your computer speed anywhere in the world. I gives both upload and download speeds.
I run it from So. calif to Austrailia, and my speed is alway above average for all computers. Try it......
I will be posting more sites for reading forums about your systems and software. These sites offer great answers , and you can post your own questions too.
I will be posting great "Tweak" sites for Vista and for XP..
They work...

Java Repair
If you are using XP or Vista and only Sun Java shows, you can download versions of each here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
FOR USERS WITH OLDER OPERATING SYSTEMS:
ALERT: If you use the Microsoft Java Machine (JVM), don`t accept anymore Java updates from Sun. The technology behind JVM stopped nearly three years ago so really isn`t compatible with the runtime enviroment updates that Sun Java offers. It will more than likely cause you problems.
Several members have run into problems getting chat and other things to work .Hopefully, this little guide I made will help. In most cases for users ,going to Sun Java and selecting the correct one for your computer is all you have to do.
First, determine if you`re using only Sun Java or the JVM machine.
If you aren`t sure which version you`re using:
*Click Tools on the IE browser *Click Internet Options *Click Advanced *Scroll down to Java
It will show either Sun Java or both JVM and Sun Java.
*********************If it shows JVM, follow these steps.*****************
1.Download both these items from the websites shown below and save to your desktop.
a. http://www.linktivity.com/get_java.asp (JVM) b. http://oldapps.com/download.php?oldappsid=jre-6u1-windows-i586-p.exe
2. Uninstall your old java, reboot and then install the download for the JVM. 3. Install the jre-6u1 version of Java 4. Go to : Tools in IE, Click on Internet Options Click Advanced.
Scroll down and see if you see Microsft JVM. If so,MAKE SURE the only boxes checked are : *Java Logging Enabled *JIT Compiler for virtual Machine.
If you see the Heading of Sun Java, uncheck that box.
5. Reboot your computer and you should be ready to go.
NEVER ACCEPT NEW JAVA UPDATES IF YOU USE JVM. THEY AREN'T COMPATIBLE AND WILL CAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM YOU JUST FIXED. =======================================================
Thanks for the new link for the old Java version, CZ :>)
