Re: hmmmm
Cindy, I don't have a clue as to what has happened since you have so many issues. Something certainly does appear to have gone wrong with the recovery.
What I'm wondering is if all the updates for XP altered the operating system enough to cause this. Recovery resets the computer back to the state it was when purchased. Each update is a patch that alters that .
Has your resolution changed at all as one last thing to check ?

Re: hmmmm
Right click on the Desktop. Click Properties. Click Settings. I have a 19" monitor and run mine at 1024x768. Try the setting recommended to you or just try all of them to see what helps the most. It's up to you :>)

Re: hmmmm
Cindy, Now you can go in and tweak the computer theme.
Right click on Desktop. Click Properties, then the Appearance tab. Click Advanced button. In the drop down menu, locate MENU and change the font size to at least 10 maybe a bit larger but not too large as to distort things again.
Anyway, you can actually change the font sizes of the window border text, etc. This way. Once the program list is large enough for you, click Okay.
It takes a bit of trial and error but is a neat way to customize the window theme to suit yourself.
This is a great little tutorial on how to change the appearance of things that are too small for you to see, etc.

Good luck. We'll get you to the point where you can see what you're doing. LOL.

Re: hmmmm
Cindy,
Sometimes the most obvious thing is the hardest to spot, so I promise you, I'm not ready to kill. LOL. I'm just relieved we got on the right track here.
Do change the font size in the Menu area I told you about and you should be able to read your programs list, etc. a lot easier :>)

Re: hmmmm
Cindy,
I worried about it, too, and had been looking for info the entire time. I'm so glad you posted again to let me know about the programs list being messed up. That was a clue I needed.
You're so very welcome to the help I was able to give you. It makes me feel good, too
