Replies: 2 Jas2587 | A Tidbit about Java and MSVM
1st, I have Vista, so with the correct Sun-Java downloaded, and the auto update set to do it daily, I have absolutely no conflicts at all.
For "older" systems : There was a fight for the rights for updating the software for the Java within all systems of Windows, so, Microsoft came out with their own version called Virtual Machine, using the licensed version of the original Sun Java as the platform. Then, Sun sued MS, but the deal ended up that they would part ways, and because of a very long contract to install the Sun version in every windows machine, Sun changed a few of the files so that the sun-java and the MS VM would never be compatable. Thus, every person encountering a problem ended up with corrupt files when they updated their version of the sun-java. Over 90% of the problems were solved by going into the tools section and making sure that either the MS VM was checked and the sun-Java was not checked==or==visa versa. It was left up to the operator (you) which one you wanted to use.
My other machine, a Compaq ME, i never used the sun java, because i kept the MS VM up to date.
When ADOBE bought out Sun-Java, and MacroMedia, they incorporated many changes to all their software. Now, when you get the latest version of the Sun-Java, YOU MUST also get the latest version of the MacroMedia Flash Player and plugins, etc., to have them all compatable.
A helpful hint: When you go check that your machine has the latest version of the Sun Java, it would be smart to also test your flash player, etc too.
For sure, you will run smoother if they all are up to date.
Take time to browse a few of the tech sites I listed in another post, you will see what problems they encounter and the fixes to get going again.

Replies: 1 Jas2587 | Toolbar run time error 52
This may or may not be caused by one of hundreds of different reasons.
This error is caused by software problems - but whose software?
Run-time error '52' Bad file name or number
I will assume it is not the obvious answer and that the filename is not bad what does that leave?
IT WILL LEAVE A PROBLEM THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO FIX YOURSELF BECAUSE IT IS ON YOUR COMPUTER.
Try these links below - do some research and run some diagnostics or try and remove possible areas of conflict and see if you can either narrow down the cause or remove the problem.
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000380.htm
http://www.registryfix.com/ http://www.fix-my-pc.org/runtime-error/runtime-error.htm http://www.regsweep.com/ http://registrysmart.com/ http://mcafee.pcperformancetools.com/regcure.html
As you can see most of the links above presume some kind of mess in the registry area of YOUR computer. A pretty safe bet for most people.
I don't know if this applies to you - but a more streamlined registry will have to improve computer performance even if it does not fix this specific problem.
Just make sure you don't break your registry or your computer wont work at all.
Jeff
P.S.
Search on google and see if you can find some other ways that may help you.
I found one case where the run time error in MRU blaster was fixed by changing computer settings for the following:
In settings, try disabling the following items (by unchecking them): -Microsoft Office "Recent" Folder -Windows Recent folders
And apparently the above fix worked for the person involved ----- who would have thought these software items would be clashing?

Replies: 9 littlebit | XP and VISTA Info for casino`s
Here is a couple tips I found out before I even tried to install any casino's, and after 4 casino's support personnel told me the same thing, I did it and have absolutely no problems with any casino software downloading, opening, or playing. This has been tried by me with RTG, Microgaming, and other platforms for casino's.
1. Download the casino to file. 2. close all programs, and open the file to install the casino software, but DO NOT run casino after it installs. 3. Close out the installation, and return to desktop. 4. Find the "icon" for the casino, RIGHT CLICK on it, then PROPERTIES. 5. click on "Compatability" 6. when it opens, look for the drop-down box, and see that it says "Windows XP/SP-2" (note) if it is not there click the arrow and the dropdown window opens and select "Windows XP/SP-2" 7. Be Sure the small box IS CHECKED to the left of the dropdown menu. Then click ok, close out and you are ready to play at the casino.
NOTE: If you already have casino's downloaded, do as it says above so your system is compatable with the casino software. You will encounter far fewer errors if you do this.
VISTA OWNERS: For the very best, smoothest way to play any casino's software, do this:
1. ALWAYS OPEN THE CASINO AS "ADMINISTRAITOR"
You will not encounter any problems (as far as I have seen), by doing this.
NOTE: If you open the casino under "user" the vista system seems to forget some files to load and you get error messages, or missing graphics.
I hope this helps you a little.
UPDATE: Here is another very useful website that really does help speed up vista, and has an excellent forum. go to: www.speedyvista.com
