The GG Toolbar is designed to make your Gone Gambling experience more
enjoyable. Over time we will be adding new features to it, so make sure you always have
the most recent version installed. Many Gone Gambling members use the GG Toolbar to increase their daily number of GG Points. |
This help section should answer most of the questions you might have about the Toolbar. If you can't find the answer to your question here, try asking one of the live support members or posting a question in the forums. If you have problems installing or running the toolbar, or you encounter some sort of error, please submit an error report (Remember: we will be fixing known bugs regularly, so make sure you download the most recent version before reporting errors).
This documentation was last updated on 16th June 2005, and covers the following versions of the GG Toolbar components:

Some people will find that their download fails with missing files. If this happens we have an alternate download that includes many more files Download CLIENT with MSVBVM60.DLL. If this download fails with missing files then you will need to go elsewhere to find those files. You can either enter the names of the missing files into a search engine and then surf to a location which will allow you to download the missing files, or you click on this link and download the files that are missing.
Once Installed you click on the "Start" bar then "Programs" link and you will find the Gone Gambling Client, copy this to the desktop or you quick launch area to create a shortcut.
If you have made multiple installs without doing a Remove/uninstall then don't worry. Each install attempt may still be recorded even though you will only have one copy on your computer. Just uninstall all copies as you would normally do and ignore the error message that will say it cannot find the files. Once all uninstalls/removes are completed you can do the install again.
The normal situation requires a Download CLIENT and a Download MESSENGER Once completed the download and the install you start the client and read the help.
To launch the GG toolbar, start the Gone Gambling Client program. A login box will appear. Enter your Gone Gambling username and password and click the "Login" button. Once your username and password are verified the main Toolbar window will appear.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Message claiming invalid username or password:
Sometimes when you attempt to login you will receive the message "Invalid username or password! Login failed!" even if your username and password are correct. If you receive this message after checking your username and retyping your password, simply click the "Login" button a few times and the toolbar should connect.
The Toolbar is a small window that consists of a number of icons and drop-down menus.
Some of the icons and menu options will display windows and features that are built in to the Toolbar, while others will launch relevant web pages. Moving the mouse cursor over an icon will display a "tooltip" specifying what that icon represents.
The toolbar can be minimised, which will cause an onion icon to appear in the Windows System Tray (the section of the Taskbar near the clock).

Launches a toolbar window which connects you to the "traditional" on-site Gone Gambling Chat. [More info]

The "Options" menu provides access to key toolbar features:
Logs you in to a Gone Gambling chat room which is only accessible from the GG Toolbar. You will be able to chat publicly with other members who are using the toolbar. This chat room is different from the on-site one, and should be more efficient with fewer connection problems.
Displays your GG Messenger contact list. The contact list manager has several features, some of which will be familiar to users of other instant messaging systems such as ICQ or MSN.
Contacts are arranged in groups, labelled "L1" to "L6". A member can be added to any group, or several groups. To display a particular group simply click on the button for that group, e.g. "L3". The button for the current list being displayed will be highlighted in green.
You can send a message to everyone in a group by double-clicking the group button. Everyone who receives the message will then be able to talk to each other in a chat-like fashion. Note: Only members who have their status set to "Online" will receive the original message and be able to participate in the subsequent chat. No other members will be able to join a conversation once it has started.
To add a contact simply select the group list you want to add them to, type their member name in the "Contact Username" textbox and click the green "Add" button. The member's username will be added to the current list.
To delete a contact from a group list simply click once on the member's username then click the pink "Delete" button.
If you do not want a particular member to be able to send you messages you can add them to your "Block" list group. The Block list group works the same way as the other groups (L1 to L6) except that members on this list will not be able to send you any messages. The Block list is accessed by clicking the "B1" button.
Members on your Allow list will see you as being online - and be able to send you messages - when you have set your status to "Appear Offline". This means that you can appear to be online to a few selected friends, for example, and offline to everyone else. The Allow list is accessed by clicking the "A1" button.
To send a message to an individual
You can only send messages to members who have their status set to "Online" in the "MyStatus" menu (unless you are in their Allow list). Similarly, you can only receive messages if your own status is set to "Online".
Shows when you will be able to participate in various events, for example when you can play your next Boom or Bust or Horse Racing game. 0:0:0:0 means you are eligible to play immediately. The Events listed include:
Once events are displayed the timer clock will begin counting down to zero The events page will not check with the server for a change in any situation until you click the "Refresh" button or close the Events window and re-open it.
Displays a list of jackpots for various Gone Gambling games.
For reasons of server efficiency these jackpot displays are based on samples (as explained below), and therefore may vary in accuracy. These displays should be used as a guide only.
A sample of the current Jackpot values is taken at regular intervals, e.g. once per minute. The rate of change since the previous sample is also calculated. When the Jackpots screen refreshes, the current jackpot values are inserted into the relevant fields, then they are all updated by their respective rates of change until the next sample is taken.
Run away jackpots
When a jackpot for a game reaches a high value it is common for many members to start playing in an attempt to win it, which pushes the jackpots for that game higher and at a faster rate. This is normal and understandable. Sometimes, however, a particular jackpot value will seem to "go berserk" and race ahead of the other jackpots for the same game. This is a side-effect of the sampling method - if you wait for the next sample the jackpot should correct itself, or you can close the Jackpots window and re-open it.

A new toolbar window is opened which logs you in to the standard Gone Gambling chat room. Although the connection method is different, this is the same room that is accessed via the Gone Gambling web site, and you will be able to chat with those people who have logged in via the site regardless of whether or not they have the toolbar installed.
Links under the "Web" menu take you to the relevant pages on the Gone Gambling site.
Allows you to set your personal status for other members to view.
Important: You will only be able to receive messages when your status is set to "Online". The only exception is for members in your A1 "Allow" list, who will always see you as being Online. Similarly, you can only send messages, including group messages, to members who have their status set to "Online".
The menu options in the "Toolbar Info" menu display various interesting facts and figures.
Shows the username that is currently logged in to the Toolbar
Every hour a username is randomly selected from the list of members who have:
If the selected user is currently logged on to the Toolbar they will win the current jackpot amount. The Jackpot will then be reset to 100 GG Points.
Selecting the "Current Jackpot" menu item will display the current value of the Jackpot.
Displays the username of the last person who won the Toolbar Jackpot, and how much they won. (See above for more info on Toolbar Jackpot.)
Shows how many members are currently logged on to the GG Toolbar.
Displays the version number of your copy of the Toolbar program (Gone Gambling Client).
The place to go when nothing seems to work right.
Allows you to chat with the Live Support volunteers on the Gone Gambling site.
Brings you to this page.
Takes you to a web page where you can report problems via email. Please remember that we are not mind readers and you will need to give us a lot of information about any problem you are experiencing, before we can even start investigating it.
Gone Gambling members who download the GG Tool Bar will be credited with a 'GG Points Reward' each 24 hour period. The reward will only be credited if the member is seen to open and use the tool bar.
The server will scan all members logged on once per hour. If you are logged during any one of these scans, you will receive your daily reward. If you are not logged on during any scan you will miss out.
Twice a day the server will look for any members that are to received a reward for logging on and will issue that reward.
There are a number of things that you can do yourself to make using the toolbar easier and more enjoyable.
You can make every web page link in the Toolbar open into a new page by changing your web browser settings.
All you have to do is adjust one of your Internet Explorer settings as follows (other browsers will differ):
