ANOTHER COWBOY GONE PROBABLY THE LAST OF THEM

I saw today a man that we really thought a lot of so much so we named one of our sons after him has passed away
I am sure none of you know him but some of your kids may know our son Hirthel .
We met Hirthel Welker way back in 1969. We lived in Colorado and still in the Military.
Hirthel and I worked on the ranch that the Military owned
He started renting a room from us and became more than a renter but a real friend
When Our son was born, we approached Hirthel about naming our son after him. He accepted our offer with geart pride that we would want to do that.
When our time was up Hirthel moved and we lost contact with him
Over the next 30 years or so I would look for him and finally fate put us back in contact
We never got back together to visit for various reasons
He passed away a day or so ago and he will be missed
Hirthel had worked on some of the most famous ranches in the nation . He taught me how to throw a loop and how to set a horse properly, He taught me a lot
He taught us about having culture. as he called it
He would be listening to someone singing Opera and when we ask do you understand that , he would say no not a word.
Why do you listen then .
Doc- Betty you gotta have a little culture
He could set a table properly as if the president or a king was coming to dine or he could eat out of a can with a spoon
You gotta have a little culture
He was not just a guy that worked on a ranch he was a real cowboy but had a little culture
To a guy we thought dearly of Hirthel Welker you will be missed
Doc, Betty, Charles,& Hirthel
