It's a cold day today. It's getting ready to rain. Looking out the window, feeling all snug and cozy, I thought maybe I would curl up with a good book and a cup of tea. Or maybe find an old movie to watch and pop some corn. It's times like this that I really wish I could whip up a hearty stew, or bake something that actually tastes good. But I must face the facts here... I am a lousy cook! Oh how I wish I could bake like Greedygirl! I bet on any given day Greedy's kitchen has aromas of roast beef, or empanadas, or a gingerbread fresh from the oven. That woman can cook anything. damn her! But do you know who else could cook the pants off the pot? Do you old timers remember Trish (littlebit)? Trish was John's assistant for a for a few years when he owned GoneGambling. Trish's cooking was down-home-mom's-Southern cookin' style. She used to talk about dinners she made, easy cornbread recipes and such... always made my mouth water. One thing Trish would do was host chat. Every Sunday I'd grab my cup of coffee and head off to the chat room to 'have coffee' with Trish and the gang. During chat Trish would, as she put it, toddle off to go fill up her coffee cup... remarkable her timing was, because that's always when I'd be about ready for another cup myself and I would 'toddle' off to the kitchen to pour another cup too. Made me feel like I was sitting around the kitchen table with Trish and all my GG friends. Trish even had a little website where she posted a lot of her recipes. The site is no longer there but I found an archive of that site where you can still find many of her recipes. It was called "Trish's Going Home" (formerly "My Front porch") - here's the link to the archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20080703155532/http://www.goinghome.bravehost.com/staters.html
