Thanks to mmljr for this post We have 4 sons that we cherish dearly. One though is way bigger than the others and always has been at 15 y/0 old he was 6 ft tall and weighed 226 pounds .He played a middle linebacker in school We owned and still have to this day a 1971 ford 1/2 ton pickup Our son made friends with a couple of kids that to day are still friends after roughly 35 years This is an unusual bond to make friends in the 3rd to 5th grade of school keep them all thru school and still be friends 35 years latter They do not get together as much as all have families and different jobs and interest but none the less they still find time to see each other several times thru the year These guys go on fishing trips, hunt some and just get together over a beer or a cup of coffee . They have no problem dropping what they are doing to go help each other if needed We are fortunate that these same kids (they always will be to us) will do the same for the wife and I if we would call one of them Any way I have gotten away from what I was going to say These guys when in school would want us to take them here and there so away we would go .All of them piled in the back the sons four friends ,the son, our other three and the wife and I. Here is 10 people in that old truck rambling down the highway, without a care or thought in the world. We never gave thought when these kids got older of being overloaded Finally the day came these 5 kids no longer needed me to drive them around and could go on their own I am not sure why or for what reason butthink one of them had gotten stuck on a old mud road and came to me t o help get him out It is the middle of the night and here we are three in the bed of the truck and the other three of us in the front Suddenly these red lights come on behind me and I pull over .It is a Texas state highway Patrol officer He tell me he pulled me over for a brake light being out and it was . He ask if he could search the pickup and sure no problem He tells everyone to get out and go stand by his car so we all did. After he gets thru looking he stands there with a flashlight and then says Mr Doc , I am giving you a warning ticket for the brake light But do you realize you are probably overloaded weight wise ? I had never thought of that . He says with the size of them boys you have to have over a half ton of beef in that truck as there is not a one of them less than 225 pounds and you are a 200 pounder alone I ask him are you going o put me on a set of scales to see ? He laughed out loud and says no, but I am taking a picture of you as I have never seen that much beef in one pickup in my life Not one trooper will believe I stopped a pickup that was over weight limit by people if I don't take a picture and buddy you have a lot of beef there your hauling He was right each one of the boys ran from 210 to 295 plus I was 200 pounds on the nose These guys are even taller and bigger today and still friends after all these years Each one purchased 4 door pickups so they could if need be ride together even today
