Hello all, Tomorrow will be Remembrance Day here in the UK. We will remember the Fallen from the First World War through to today. 100 years ago, 1915, WW1 had settled into the trench warfare that we know today. We had already witnessed the first disaster that become known as Gallipoli. An invasion of Turkey from the Dardanelles Straights that went wrong from the first minute. 1000's of Anzac (Australia, New Zealand Army Corps) troops died followed by, at least, 72,000 British casualties. The First Sea Lord, Winston Churchill, oversaw the operation and regretted it for the rest of his life. ESPECIALLY FOR DOC.......... Noel Chavasse VC, the only double VC winner in World War One, and one of three men to have done so throughout history. Part of the medical corps, he led rescue and recovery missions to rescue fallen comrades in the perilous no man’s land despite aggressive shell fire. He took a fatal shot to the head at Passchendaele. Doc? Medics DO get recognised! FOR THE FALLEN They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Phil.
