Land based have picked up the mindset of the online casinos
They now make you play your vouchers and comps ( that they send you or put on your card) rather than letting you just put in a machine and cash out and they make you wager it at least once
They have tightened the machines down a lot.
If you can find a good casino that still leans to the customer then you have a chance of doing good on one
I have never been one to create a paper trail with casinos, I have played all over Western Washington but never "joined" their programs, so, when I do play its on my own dime and with no recording of plays...just feel better that way lol. I agree they have tightened up, where I used to go in the early days with the dream of winning big, I have learned to go only with money I can afford to spend, which is not often! I remember the days of driving home sick to my stomach with the loss I suffered, so fixed that! That's why facebook games have been great, no money in, and entertainment value galore lol. Of course, a big win on a day out (I never go at night) is always a plus when you go home with more than you brought, that becomes a nice bonus in itself. (maybe buy my gas there and back or give me a free lunch.) There have been times when I have gone home with 300 extra dollars, but all in all have lost more than I have won over the years. It would be nice to hit a big one!!

serious money left on the table

serious money left on the table

I do not fault anyone for not signing up for a players club
I will say you leave a lot of money on the table by not doing so
Some land based casinos have better clubs than others and the good ones can rack big returns
Winstar Casino in Oklahoma is now the largest casino in the world
with 1000's of hotel room s, over 6000 machines and being a over a mile long it is a sight to see
Like most you can leave money and walk out empty but the club can really soften the blow
WED and Thur free buffet breakfast for anyone over 50 (they now serve over 1200 people each day)
You do not even have to play just get a card go eat and leave never touch a machine
If you do play it is easy to get rooms and invitations and even free buffet meals
Coushatta casino in Louisiana is another that has a nice play and decent room rates
Such as 80.00 a night on a sat night with no card
We play at several different ones and have not played a lot of money at any of them
We could map out and starting the 1st of Dec we could stay in a hotel every night for a month
We could get roughly 40 buffets ,10 breakfast meals buffet and I have no idea how many other free meals we have for other foods
We will have roughly 800.00 of vouchers to play on
This is not even a total of all the casinos we play at but only 5 or 6
We do not always use a card
We played at a casino in Lake Charles one night
I have received vouchers totaling more than 300.00 and 5 free nights
We may have spent 600 there so when you take what we could go back and get that is not a bad return
Yes, they hope you will play more , but nothing says you have to
We have used some just for stop over and not even play

Sounds like you have some good deals available to you! The only 2 I would consider signing up for don't give out anything worth traveling the distance for, my girlfriend has had player club cards at both for over 2 years, we took advantage of a hotel discount at one and buffet at same place. The gas ate up the "free" on the buffet, but, that was back when gas was over 4.00 a gallon and, since we going to go play anyway...the free was nice. I ate aaaaaaalllllotttt!. I suspect she uses it more than she lets on lol.

Good information, thank you!

Heres the thing about player clubs. I am pretty familiar with em to say the least. Ok. Maybe to familiar! lol....I would think that if you hit w2's ( any single win $1200 and over) being in a players club to show a win/loss statement is good! You can deduct your loss with it, never paying taxes on your wins. If anyone is familiar with the IRS auditing you, its me. I have been audited 3 times by the IRS and now the state is on my behind. But! I have my win/loss statements and that saves me everytime!

I can't imagine why you wouldn't want a paper trail. Player clubs not only give you money, but they give you gifts, food, trips gift cards, I mean seriously the amount of freebies from a player card can be endless. One of the land based casinos in Vegas sent me and a guest to Atlantis for a week all expenses paid. From airfare down to anything I wanted from any restaurant, room service, etc... What a fabulous trip all because of the player card. Its ok if you don't play a lot on it. They will email you incentives to get you to come in.

In the desert where my parents live, there are 4 casinos within 15 minutes... 2 you have to download the free money they automatically put on your card and 2 you have to start out with a dollar to get it going so to speak. 1 casino I get to swipe the card 3xs a week for $5-$1000 per time...normally getting only the $5 but lots of times I will get a free $10 and last week I got $20 2xs and I used to get $50 frequently but I haven't in quite awhile. I also get another $10 per week along with gifts on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. I got a trunkload of free gifts. I take those gifts and I take them to a dept store or target or bed bath and beyond and I have hundreds of gift cards at this point. I have everything from ice cream makers to 2 gallon beverage holders to pots and pans and baking stuff it really runs the gamut. My favorite casino gives really nice gifts along with $35 cash to download to a machine every week and bonus days at the end of the month. Gives me 2 buffets or $50 in free food at any of the restaurants. ( buffets are $25 per person) This casino has the best food of all the casinos. The other 2 casinos I don't go to as often as the incentives are not there. But! I do go to collect the free money.

Doc in answer to downloading the free money into a machine if you download it into vp 9/6 and play optimum you should make out about the same as what you downloaded. With the player club your return should bring you over 100%. Ya know?

Bottom line is we know there is no such thing as a free lunch. Don't think that all the gifts and all the money is free. I pay dearly for all of it! And then some!
